Hi guys,
Just did the MTL circuit yesterday from Waterfoot clockwise with my cycling buddy . We did an extra out and back to Thieveley Pike which was navigational error but put the distance up to 50 miles .Taking off that extra our overall time including stops for map checks , gates , food , falls was 9.5 hours which I think is within 'challenge ' time - by the way I am 62 and my buddy is 64 but way fitter than me as befits an ex-Olympic marathon runner -we reckoned the route was fell running on bikes - an unforgettable day -the Trans-Pennine Trail which we did 2 years ago is a 'potter ' in comparison, but still a great trip. Richard Rose & Jeff Norman

Very impressive time for someone getting back to fitness after an injury! I managed 5 minutes inside 7 hours when I did it three years ago and I was happy with that. I will second the comment about the gates most of which must be a nightmare for horse riders (they're bad enough when you're on a bike). Thoroughly enjoyed it though.
